Our Kids

Jackson Espoir
DOB: January 1st, 2014
Jackson came from a malnutrition clinic, where he was well cared for. He came to us healthy, but needing a home. Jackson has what we believe to be Cerebral Palsy, although he has not officially been diagnosed. He is so fun, and craves human interaction. Jackson loves to be talked to and played with, and he requires extensive cuddling or he gets so sad. Jackson can always be found laughing and smiling when he is spending time with people. During our routine physical therapy, he has been learning to sit unassisted and we are working on leg strength, as he is learning to stand for periods of time. We hope to strengthen his balance, so he doesn’t require vigilant attention when he is working on different strength exercises.

 Kensly Jean Baptiste
 DOB: June 14, 2011
Came to Divine Family: December 12, 2013
Kensly and his twin brother used to be the “babies”, but they are now turning into the most fun little boys. Kensly has previously struggled with a stutter, causing a lack of confidence and shy persona. However because of his recent language take off, leading to a new confident outlook on life. Kensly is a total “boy’s boy”; he is energetic, brave, and sometimes a little ornery. Kensly loves to play with the older boys, and sometimes forgets he’s the little guy- as he tries so hard to be like them.
Kensley Jean Baptiste
DOB: June 14, 2011
Came to Divine Family: December 12, 2013

Kensley and his brother used to be the “babies”, and now are growing into the most rambunctious and fun loving boys. Kensley is much more outgoing than his brother, and gets along well with everyone. Kensley does very well in school, and is learning to read. Like his brother, he often forgets he’s one of the little guys, and tries to keep up with the older boys in everything they do.

Bendjy Toussaint Casinir
Came to Divine Family: August 2017
Bendjy is one of our newest kids. He was brought to the orphanage in August 2017. He had some trouble getting used to the new environment, however once Ricardo joined us in the fall, the two became inseparable. Bendjy has a hard time following what’s going on in social situations, leading us to believe he has some sort of disability. This is portrayed when he constantly needs attention and love. He also has delayed response and reaction when given instruction. Regardless, he looks for approval from those in authority, and is adjusting to life here well.
Dachca Estime
Dachca is the youngest of three siblings, all who live with us. She is a tomboy, brave, and can often be found rough housing with the boys. Dachca is extremely energetic, and just a little bit ornery. She is confident in who she is and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her. Dachca’s dad is still involved in her life, and comes to visit often.

Marie “Tania” Yodine Charles

DOB: March 3, 2009
Came to Divine Family: May 2012

Tania is cousins with Jerry and Godson. She is reserved, and always so sweet. However, when you get her going- she can be quite feisty. Tania is a total girly- girl. She succeeds at school, but has a hard time sitting still. Tania enjoys spending time with adults and being helpful. She loves to make people happy.

 Woody Estime
Woody is the middle child of three siblings, who all live with us. He is so feisty, and constantly a little ball of energy. Woody loves to clown around with Godson. The two of them can always be found making jokes and entertaining everyone around them. He is easily offended if his “tough-guy” exterior gets removed. Woody’s dad is still involved in his life, and comes to visit often.

Valentina “Vava” Joseph

DOB:  November 22, 2007
Came to Divine Family: July 24, 2012

Vava has matured a lot since coming to us. She is extremely smart, and excels in school. Vava is studious and always gets her school work done. She loves helping with the handicapped kids, and always can be found toting Kedneau around. Vava is opinionated and easily excitable.

Joseph “Chichi” Loubens
We believe that Chichi has Cerebral Palsy, although he hasn’t been officially diagnosed. His body is spastic which makes it difficult for him to make intentional movements. Chichi is cognitively aware of everything going on around him. He is silly and loves when people joke around with him. More so, he loves interactions and when people talk to him and acknowledge him like just another kid. Generally, Chichi is very happy, and can be found in his favorite spot: laying under the bed.

Esther
We believe that Esther has Cerebral Palsy, as well as some form of autism, although neither have been officially diagnosed. She also suffers from seizures. Esther is such a sweet girl, and enjoys being around people, but she doesn’t always outwardly show it. Although she doesn’t have muscle spasms or tightness, Esther has sensory issues and a general lack of motivation to move. Recently, she has started crawling when motivated by food. Esther will cry when she needs to be held, and is never happier than when she is cuddling someone.

Jerry “Godson” Charles

DOB: September 20, 2006
Came to Divine Family: March 21, 2013
Godson lives here with his older brother, Jerry. The two are cousins with Tania. Godson is rarely serious, and always entertaining everyone around him. He and Woody can always be found together, being silly. Godson will go to all costs to avoid doing his school work, and would rather be helping out around the house. He enjoys being with people, and will follow you around all day talking.
Lourdesmilla Divet

DOB: September 14, 2008
Came to Divine Family: April 2014
Lourdesmilla has matured a lot since coming to us. She previously couldn’t read or write, and now enjoys school and learning. She could benefit from a tutor. Lourdesmilla likes to be helpful and to have responsibilities, and is always ready to help with the handicapped kids. She takes pride in looking her best all the time, and likes to be around people.
Clifton “Cliff” Benjamin

DOB: May 29, 2008
Came to Divine Family: May 18, 2013
Cliff was born normal, however seizures at a young age left him with brain damage. His whole body is constantly contracted and he is unable to move it on his own accord. Cliff is the sweetest boy, and loves to be held. When people enter a room, his face lights up with excitement. He enjoys “being apart of” the other kids conversations, inserting in his own noises every now and then. Cliff is the happiest when he is being snuggled and talked to.
Guipsoh Edume

DOB: October 16, 2007
Came to Divine Family: September 15, 2013

Guipsoh is one of our more reserved kids. That is, until he wants to show off. Then, you can find him doing all sorts of crazy things, like dancing or doing the splits. He is kind-hearted and loves to be of assistance. He is always ready to do anything asked of him. Guipsoh has to work much harder than the other kids do for school work, but still often falls behind. He would greatly benefit from having a tutor.

Woodmaïl Estime

Woodmail is the oldest of three siblings, who all live with us. He is only in fourth grade (he could be in seventh), because he started late. Woodmail could benefit from having a tutor. At home, Woodmail is generally helpful and eager to be the center of attention. Woodmail’s dad is still involved in his life, and comes to visit often.

Renante “Bebe” Jules

DOB: February 14, 2005
Came to Divine Family: December 2013
Bebe is our oldest girl. She is growing into a typical preteen. She is independent and opinionated, and likes things to go her way. She does very well in school, and always gets her school work done. Bebe enjoys one on one time with adults she looks up to, and is happy when people take interest in her.
